Summary of Meidiana & Pertiwi (2024)
Background & Existing Knowledge
Problem-based learning (PBL) promotes student-driven inquiry, while concept mapping provides a structured way to visualize problem-solving processes and enhance science literacy.
New Insights from This Study
✔ The integration of PBL and concept mapping significantly improved students' ability to analyze and explain scientific concepts more clearly and effectively.
✔ Students in the experimental group demonstrated higher engagement in discussions and a stronger ability to connect theory with practical applications.
✔ The structured visual framework provided by concept mapping helped students correct misconceptions and strengthened their reasoning skills.
Practical Applications: How Educators Can Use This Research
📌 Use concept maps in PBL activities to help students organize their findings, structure arguments, and visualize solutions to scientific problems.
📌 Design group-based concept mapping tasks to encourage peer interaction, collaboration, and diverse problem-solving approaches.
📌 Apply this strategy in science literacy assessments to measure students' ability to connect and apply key concepts effectively.
Conclusion
Combining problem-based learning with concept mapping enhances students’ analytical skills, comprehension, and ability to express scientific knowledge.
