To ensure the quality and consistency of submissions to the Excellent Educator, authors are requested to follow the guidelines below when preparing their summaries for publication. The goal is to provide concise, accessible, and informative summaries of select journal articles, making complex research understandable and applicable for educators and researchers.
1. Article Selection
The selected journal article must be relevant to current educational practices and demonstrate strong potential for application in the field.
Focus on research articles that have been peer-reviewed and published in reputable journals. The articles should provide valuable insights, methodologies, and findings related to education, teaching strategies, or related educational fields.
2. Title
Provide a clear and descriptive title for your summary that reflects the essence of the original research article.
3. Structure of the Summary
The summary should be concise, typically ranging from 250 to 300 words, and follow this structure:
Existing Knowledge
Briefly describe the existing literature or knowledge base relevant to the study. Include an introduction to the educational concept or theory (e.g., Project-Based Learning, inclusive education) and summarize previous research findings in the area.
New Insights from the Study
Present the key findings of the selected study. Focus on how the research adds to the current knowledge base or challenges previous assumptions. Highlight key results, such as learning outcomes, methodologies, or factors affecting the implementation of educational practices.
Putting Research into Practice
Provide practical suggestions for educators based on the study’s findings. Emphasize how the research can be applied in educational settings, detailing actionable recommendations such as strategies for improving teaching practices, classroom management, or student engagement. Include any relevant insights on teacher training or curriculum design.
Reference Information
APA reference should be given at the end of the summary
Format:

4. Writing Style
Use clear, concise, and non-technical language to ensure the summary is accessible to a broad audience of educators and researchers.
Avoid jargon and highly technical terms unless essential, and provide definitions or explanations when necessary.
Focus on key takeaways, presenting the most important aspects of the research while maintaining accuracy.
5. Story Format (Optional)
In addition to the summary, authors are encouraged to submit an educational story that presents the research findings in a narrative format. The story should:
Be engaging and relatable, using fictional or real-world scenarios to illustrate how the research can be applied in practice.
Follow the general structure of a story (introduction, problem, solution, outcome) to provide context for the research and its impact on educational practice.
Ensure that the key findings and practical implications of the research are clearly conveyed in the story format.
