     Summary of Nakpodia, 2010
This study looks at how teachers in Nigerian secondary schools handle discipline. It describes common methods like corporal punishment, suspension, and counseling. The study explains how teachers use different types of power—such as reward, authority, or expertise—to manage student behavior. Cultural norms and community expectations play a big role in what is considered acceptable discipline.
The study suggests that some methods, like corporal punishment, may be harmful or against legal rules. It recommends using fair and non-violent approaches instead. Schools should follow national guidelines and train teachers in better ways to manage behavior. Working with parents and communities can help create safer and more respectful schools.Â
