Summary of Lo & Wang (2024)
Background & Existing Knowledge Visual development in infancy is crucial for establishing neural connections and enhancing the growth of the visual center. Adequate visual stimulation supports cognitive learning, helping children to integrate images, colors, and shapes.
New Insights from This Study
Visual graphic aids were found to be effective in promoting coordination, control, and the integration of visual and fine motor skills in young children.
These aids supported the development of spatial and environmental relationships through hands-on activities, which is a key aspect of early learning.
Practical Applications
Designing Interactive Visuals: Create teaching aids that require children to physically interact with them to improve both visual perception and fine motor skills.
Promoting Hands-On Learning: Incorporate hands-on activities that allow children to explore spatial and environmental relationships, thereby supporting their cognitive development.
Stimulating Sensory Integration: Use visual aids with a variety of colors, images, and shapes to provide adequate stimulation that helps children integrate various sensory inputs.
Conclusion The study demonstrates that visual image teaching aids are a valuable tool for assisting in the cognitive and fine motor development of young children.
